On the basis of EU funding, we have established the first Clinic for Rehabilitation, Biofeedback and Neuromodulation in this part of Europe and equipped it with state-of-the-art diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation medical devices. Children from all over the region with anatomic, functional and neurogenic disorders of the lower urinary tract or bowel are treated in this specially designed, modern facility. Besides pelvic floor problems, we also offer advanced diagnostics and treatment for children with spasticity, gait abnormalities and movement disorders, mostly children with cerebral palsy, dystonia, traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumors, and similar conditions. We offer individually tailored care to help children regain or improve function. Our Biofeedback Program teaches older children and teens how to voluntarily control body functions, such as muscle tension, incontinence or blood pressure. We help child learn to use relaxation techniques that, after practice, may help prevent problems or improve them once they’ve started. Biofeedback works by measuring and displaying body functions on a computer screen. An experienced nurse puts the electrodes in place, depending on the clinical problem, and explains how the child can control an animated character on the computer screen. Biofeedback therapy has been proven to be effective in the treatment of urinary and stool incontinence in a number of research studies. It can be used to teach children to control and strengthen their pelvic floor muscles, and how to relax them properly. We use different biofeedback techniques for pelvic floor muscles, which are vital for successful bladder or bowel function.
